Injured after his confrontation with Hades, Seiya is in a coma and under Saori's care. Hoping that it may bring peace on Earth, Saori goes to the Sanctuary and starts spilling her blood and it is up to the Bronze Saints to save her. After the bloody battle against, goddess 's Saints are still recovering when they find themselves face to face with their newest and most formidable foe: the dreadful goddess, accompanied by her.

Artemis replaces Athena as the guardian deity and takes over the Sanctuary, turning Athena's Saints into her servants. Upon invading the Sanctuary, the Bronze Saints learn that Athena was banished by Artemis and decide to fight the moon goddess in order to rescue their true goddess and free the Earth from Artemis's ominous control. The movie focuses mostly on Seiya and Athena, as the other Bronze Saints are not seen as much; they only appear during their respective fights with the other Angels, and briefly towards the end. However, also appears, as,, and do, though the latter three are just cameos. The movie also has a very ambiguous ending, with many plot points and danglers unresolved.

Warriors called 'Saints' are the champions of hope who have always appeared since the Age of Myth whenever evil threatens the world. In this present day story, many years since the long fought 'Holy War' we find Saori Kido, a girl troubled by her mysterious powers. She is saved by a boy, Seiya 'Bronze Saint' from a sudden attack by an assassin, through the accident Saori realizes her destiny and mission and decides to go to 'Sanctuary' with Seiya and his company of Bronze Saints. In Sanctuary they confront 'Pope' and wage a desperate battle against the greatest Saints, the 'Gold Saints'. I think this new take on the Saint Seiya franchise is not bad, while it felt rushed on the last 30 minutes, I think it was solid enough.

The designs, the CGI and the personalities were great. I was gladly surprised to see Aldebaran looking so bad ass, the relationship between the bronze saints were fun and a reminder of the personalities they had on the first season (while exaggerating some qualities for comedy) and the fights were eye-candy. Sadly I feel like it doesn't deliver so well for some fans because of all the changes to the original story (specially the end that felt rushed) but considering this is trying to get the whole anime season in one movie I think it was necessary and expected. Gotta be clear that that doesn't justify the lack of screen time from some fan favorites like Ikki who never got his time to shine in this movie while it had a really important role in the original plot, I think he was the biggest disappointment and probably one of reasons people were so harsh on this movie. Also I think it was fresh to see some new ideas and some changes like the realization from the golden saints that there was something wrong happening, that the bronze saints may have been right and instead of waiting on their places they tried to actually do something to help. Overall I was entertained, while the big fan in me was disappointed because I wanted to see so much more, after talking about it with my friends (who also left the theaters a bit disappointed) I realized that I actually really appreciate this film from what it is and while it's not perfect, it's a fun time and a good experience overall.
